The Internet, a network of computers,
is the world's largest computer network. The interconnected networks
include the military, government, educational institutions, organizations,
networks, and commercial groups. The Internet has become a means
of gathering, retrieving, and sending information. Since the development
of the World Wide Web, one component of the Internet, a phenomenal
amount of information has been put on the Web. While libraries provide
books, periodicals, newspapers, pamphlets, government documents,
multimedia resources, electronic resources and more, so does the
Internet. Finding quality resources on the Web relies upon developing
an effective and efficient search strategy.
While this module focuses on
tools to use for your topics, the module on Searching the Web will
cover in detail concepts, search strategies, and search engines
and directories for finding sources for doing research.
