There are several commonly used styles for citing
sources. These style manuals include MLA Handbook for Writers
of Research Papers, Publication Manual of the American Psychological
Association, A Manual for Writers of Term Papers,Theses, and Dissertations,
and The Chicago Style Manual Style. The electronic versions
of these titles contain selected information and are linked from
the Library Web site's Ready
Reference-WWW page under the heading Grammar, Style Guides,
and Evaluating Sources.
The two style guides most frequently used at Prince
George's Community College are the MLA Handbook for Writers of
Research Paper (MLA) and Publication Manual of the American
Psychological Association (APA). The next two modules will cover
citing various types of sources from these two style manuals. Be
sure that you know which style manual is required for a particular
assignment. If you are not sure, check with your instructor.
