Introduction

The online catalog is a specialized database that lists books, videos, sound recordings, and other media formats in the Prince George's Community College Library. Currently, the online catalog can be accessed only in the library. In addition to listing what the Library has in its collection, the online catalog provides the location of each item, its call number, the floor where it is shelved, and its availability.

Use this module to learn how to locate books and multimedia sources that are available in the Library on the topic: What is the relationship between United States intelligence operations and counter terrorism? Additionally, this module will explain how to locate books and other sources using the Library of Congress call number.

In this module you will get an overview of the types of searches, search strategies, and techniques to locate sources in the online catalog. This module will focus on:

  • Search methods
  • Search strategies
  • Locating materials using a call number
