Search Engines and Subject Directories
Search engines use computer guided programs that search the contents of Web pages and index them. Metasearch engines query multiple search engines' databases simultaneously. The reference librarian acts as your human service engine. Subject directories contain human-compiled Internet sources that are arranged and classified in hierachial topics.
