History
College
Founded in 1958, Prince George 's Community College began as an evening college, conducting classes at Suitland Senior High School for 185 students. In 1967, the College moved to a permanent 150-acre campus in Largo offering day and evening programs to a student body of over three thousand students. It was at this time that the College became a candidate for Middle States Accreditation, a status it achieved in 1969. The new campus had four major buildings: Bladen Hall, a classroom building; Kent Hall, the library and administration building; the Queen Anne Fine Arts building housing the Hallam Theatre; and the Novak Field House, the gymnasium. A fifth building, Lanham Hall, completed in 1970, gave the College its Technical and Career Education Center . In 1975 another classroom building, Marlboro Hall, and the Largo Student Center added space to meet growing enrollment and expanding College functions. This capacity has been further increased by the Library Media Center , Accokeek Hall, the Science Building , Chesapeake Hall, and the new High Technology Building, scheduled to open in the Spring of 2007.
